  • Advertise yourself as a certified Canine Behaviorist with a unique, QR-verifiable certificate
  • Explain behavior modification plans to clients in vocabulary grounded in learning theory
  • Embed your digital badge on your website, booking page, and social profiles
  • Send owners a verification link that confirms your credential with no account or login

Canine behaviorists help owners understand and change problem behaviors — from leash reactivity and separation distress to resource guarding — using humane, evidence-based methods. Because anyone can call themselves a dog trainer, owners increasingly look for professionals who can point to verified knowledge of learning theory, body language, and behavior modification protocols before trusting them with a struggling dog.

Frequently asked questions

How many questions are on the Canine Behaviorist assessment?

The assessment includes 12 open-ended questions spanning 8 topic areas, with a 60-minute time limit. You answer in your own words, and an AI evaluator scores your reasoning.

How long do I have to complete it?

You'll have 60 minutes to complete the assessment once you start.

What score do I need to get certified?

You write answers in your own words and an AI evaluator scores each one out of 10 against published criteria for this specialty; your overall percentage is what counts. You need 50% to be certified. Above that, your score sets the standard recorded on the certificate: 50-64% is Foundation, 65-79% is Professional, 80% and above is Expert. That level is printed on the certificate and shown on its public verification page, so a higher score is worth having rather than just a pass. Below 50% you are not certified and nothing further is charged — you keep your remaining attempts, and the rules are shown again before you start.

Is there a level below the pass mark?

No. Below 50% no certificate is issued at all — there is no participation certificate, which is what makes the ones we do issue worth showing a client. Your report still breaks the result down topic by topic, and you can buy a personalized course written from the answers that lost marks.

What if I don't pass?

Your purchase includes 3 assessment attempts, so your next attempt costs nothing — it is one you have already paid for. A personalized study course, written from the answers that lost marks, is a separate optional purchase; its price is in the table above.

Do I need to renew my certification?

Yes — certifications are renewed annually for €40.

Is a physical certificate available?

Yes, an optional physical certification kit is available for €45.

Is this the same as being a veterinary behaviorist?

No. Veterinary behaviorists are licensed veterinarians with specialist medical training who can diagnose conditions and prescribe medication. This certification verifies your applied knowledge of canine behavior and training science — and knowing when to refer a case to a veterinarian is part of that knowledge.

Do I need hands-on experience with dogs to pass?

The assessment uses open-ended questions evaluated by AI, so you explain your reasoning in your own words rather than picking from a list. Practical experience helps enormously, but what is scored is whether you can apply behavior science correctly to realistic scenarios.

Does the certification cover aggression cases?

Reactivity and aggression sit at the heart of behavior work, including safety, management, and knowing when to refer to a veterinary professional. The credential confirms your knowledge; how you scope your own practice — including whether you take on aggression cases — remains your professional decision.
