Terms of Service
Last reviewed: 2026-01-30
The short version: you buy an assessment, an AI marks your written answers, and if you reach the published standard you may buy a certificate that anyone can verify. It is a professional-development credential, not a licence. You keep the consumer rights your own country gives you, whatever this document says.
1. Service description
PetCred ("the Service") is operated by PetCred, CNPJ 12.345.678/0002-99. The Service provides AI-evaluated knowledge assessments and professional certifications for pet-care professionals, publicly verifiable digital certificates, optional printed certificates, and related personalized digital study courses. The Service is provided on an "as is" basis for professional-development purposes.
2. Accounts and eligibility
You must register an account to use most features. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your credentials secure, and be responsible for all activity under your account. You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
The name on your account is the name printed on any certificate you earn, and shown on its public verification page. Registering under a name that is not yours, or transferring your account to someone else, invalidates the credential.
3. Pricing and payment
Paid assessments, certifications, renewals, personalized courses, and printed certificates are billed at the prices displayed at checkout, in euros (EUR), and are processed by our payment provider Stripe. Prices include applicable taxes unless stated otherwise. Payment is due at the time of purchase. You purchase a fixed number of assessment attempts per purchase, as described at checkout.
The assessment fee and the certification fee are separate. Buying an assessment does not entitle you to a certificate; the certification fee is payable only if you reach the standard and choose to claim it. Prices may change, but never for a purchase you have already made.
4. Digital delivery and consent to immediate performance
Digital content (assessments, AI evaluations, and personalized courses) is made available to you immediately after purchase. By completing the purchase you expressly consent to the immediate performance of the service and acknowledge that performance begins right away. This affects your right of regret / right of withdrawal for digital content — see our Refund & Withdrawal Policy. Printed certificates are physical goods and are treated differently; that policy explains how.
5. How assessments are marked
Your written answers are marked by an AI model against published criteria for the specialty, not by a human examiner. The score it produces decides whether you reach the standard. Marking is carried out in the language you chose at the start.
If you believe an assessment was marked incorrectly, you may ask us to have a person review the result — write to us through the Support page. This is in addition to the attempts included with your purchase, and it is free. Our Privacy Policy explains your rights over automated decisions in more detail.
6. Certifications, validity and revocation
A certification is issued with a unique serial number and an expiry date shown on the certificate. It remains valid until it expires or is revoked, and can be renewed before or after expiry at the renewal price shown on your dashboard.
We may revoke a certification, and will email you when we do, if:
- it was obtained by cheating, impersonation, or submitting work that is not yours;
- the payment for it is refunded, reversed, or charged back;
- you delete your account; or
- we are required to by law.
A revoked or expired credential shows as such on its public verification page. That page, and the ability to verify a serial number, is the credential — we maintain it for as long as we operate the Service, and if we ever cease operating we will give reasonable notice so you can download what you hold.
7. Acceptable use
You may not misuse the Service, including by cheating on assessments, sharing or reselling assessment content, misrepresenting your credentials, submitting another person's work, or attempting to disrupt, scrape, or reverse engineer the platform.
You may not present a PetCred credential as a professional licence, a qualification awarded by a public authority, or an accreditation — see section 9.
8. Intellectual property
The Service, including its assessments, question banks, generated courses, certificates, brand, and software, is owned by PetCred or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual-property law. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable licence to use the Service for its intended purpose.
You retain rights in the answers and profile content you submit, and grant us the licence needed to operate the Service and issue your credentials — which includes sending your answers to the AI provider that marks them. The personalized course written for you is yours to keep, download, and use in your own practice; you may not resell or republish it.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
A certification issued through the Service reflects performance on an AI-evaluated assessment. It does not constitute professional licensing, accreditation, or a guarantee of competence, and it does not entitle you to practise anywhere that regulates the activity. Nothing in an assessment or a course is veterinary advice.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, PetCred is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including mandatory consumer-protection rules and liability for death, personal injury, fraud, or wilful misconduct.
10. Privacy and refunds
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy and our Refund & Withdrawal Policy, which are incorporated into these Terms by reference.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the Service. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance. Changes never apply retroactively to a purchase you have already made.
12. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms and any contract for the Service are governed by the laws of Brazil, including the Código Civil (Lei nº 10.406/2002), the Código de Defesa do Consumidor (Lei nº 8.078/1990), and the Marco Civil da Internet (Lei nº 12.965/2014). The competent forum (foro) is the courts of Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil, subject to the rules below.
This choice of law and forum does not deprive you, as a consumer, of the protection afforded by the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence. In particular, consumers in Brazil retain the protections of the CDC (including the competent consumer forum), and consumers in the EU retain the mandatory consumer protections of their country of residence, including the right of withdrawal described in our Refund & Withdrawal Policy.
